Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 12, 2025

Hey, welcome to ChainTok! We really care about your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information, so you can feel confident inscribing your precious memories onto the Bitcoin blockchain. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at: [email protected]. Before we get started, please take a moment to read through this policy to understand how we handle your data!

1. Who We Are

ChainTok is a platform that lets you inscribe short messages (up to 80 bytes, about 80 English or 26 Chinese characters) onto the Bitcoin blockchain, preserving your memories forever. In the future, we’ll also offer custom keepsakes (like plush charms or plaques) linked to your digital memories via on-chain hashes. This policy applies to the ChainTok website, mobile apps, and other services (collectively, the “Services”).

2. What Information Do We Collect?

We only collect what’s necessary to provide the Services and give you the best experience. Here’s what we might collect:

Information You Provide:

  • Account Details: When you sign up, you might provide your name, email, password, or other contact info.
  • Message Content: The messages you submit for inscription (up to 80 bytes). Heads up—these messages will be publicly inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain, so anyone can see them. Don’t include private info!
  • Payment Info: When you pay for services, we collect necessary payment details (but we don’t store your card info directly—that’s handled by our payment providers).
  • Keepsake Info (In the Future): Once keepsakes are available, we might need your shipping address or customization preferences.
  • When You Contact Us: If you email us or reach out via the website, we might collect your message content and contact details.

Information We Collect Automatically:

  • Usage Data: Info about how you use the Services, like visit times, pages viewed, IP address, device type, browser, or operating system.
  • Cookies and Tracking: We use cookies and similar tech to understand how you use the Services and improve your experience—like remembering your login or analyzing site traffic.

Third-Party Info: If you sign up through a third party (like social media login), we might get basic info (like your email or username) from them, but only with your consent.

3. How Do We Use Your Information?

We use your info to provide, improve, and keep the Services running smoothly. Here’s how:

To Provide the Services:

  • Process your account signup, login, and message inscriptions.
  • Inscribe your messages onto the Bitcoin blockchain.
  • In the future, handle custom keepsake orders (including shipping and customization).
  • Process payments and send confirmation emails.

To Improve Your Experience:

  • Analyze usage data to make the website and app better.
  • Personalize your experience, like remembering your settings.

To Communicate:

  • Send service-related updates, like inscription confirmations or keepsake updates.
  • Respond to your questions or support requests.
  • If you opt in, send news, offers, or new feature updates (you can unsubscribe anytime).

For Legal and Safety Reasons:

  • Comply with legal requirements, like taxes or anti-fraud laws.
  • Keep the Services safe by preventing abuse or illegal activity.

4. Do We Share Your Information?

We don’t share your info lightly, but here’s when it might happen:

Public Blockchain Data: Your inscribed messages will be permanently public on the Bitcoin blockchain—anyone can see them via a blockchain explorer. That’s how blockchains work, and we can’t control that. So please don’t include private or sensitive info in your messages!

Service Providers:
We work with trusted third parties to help run the Services, like:

  • Payment platforms (e.g., Stripe) to process payments.
  • Cloud services to store data.
  • In the future, shipping companies to deliver keepsakes.
These partners only use your info as we instruct, and they’re bound by strict privacy agreements.

Legal Requirements:
If required by law (like a court order) or to protect the Services, users, or others’ rights, we might need to share your info.

Transfer of Operations:
If the operation of ChainTok is transferred (like during a sale), your info might transfer with the Services, but it’ll still be protected by this policy.

We’ll never sell your info to advertisers or other third parties for profit!

5. Your Choices and Rights

You’ve got control over your info! Here’s what you can do:

  • Access and Update: Log into your account to view or update your info (like your email or password). Need help? Contact us.
  • Delete Your Info: Want to delete your account? Email us at: [email protected]. But note: messages inscribed on the blockchain can’t be deleted—it’s permanent.
  • Cookies Settings: You can refuse non-essential cookies in your browser settings, but it might affect your experience.
  • Marketing Emails: Don’t want news or offer emails? Click “unsubscribe” at the bottom of the email or let us know.

Your Regional Rights:

  • EU/UK (GDPR): You can access, correct, delete, or restrict your data, object to processing, or request data portability.
  • California (CCPA): You can request to know what data we collect, delete your data, or opt out of data “sales” (we don’t sell your data).

Want to use these rights? Email us at: [email protected], and we’ll respond within 30 days (or as required by law).

6. Data Storage and Security

Where We Store It: Your info might be stored on our servers or those of our service providers, possibly in the US or other countries. Wherever it is, we’ll protect it per this policy.

How We Keep It Safe: We use industry-standard tech (like encryption and firewalls) to protect your info from unauthorized access or leaks. But the internet isn’t 100% secure—we’ll do our best, but we can’t guarantee absolute safety.

How Long We Keep It: We only hold your info as long as needed (like while your account is active or to meet legal requirements). When it’s no longer needed, we’ll delete it securely (except for messages on the blockchain).

Our Services might link to third-party sites (like blockchain explorer Mempool.space). Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we’re not responsible for their practices. Please check their policies before using them.

8. Children’s Privacy

ChainTok isn’t meant for kids under 13. If you’re 13–18, you need your parent or guardian’s permission to use the Services. If we accidentally collect info from children, we’ll delete it as soon as possible. Parents, if you spot an issue, contact us at: [email protected].

9. Policy Updates

We might update this Privacy Policy, and the new version will be posted on the Services. For major changes, we’ll notify you via email or on the website. If you keep using the Services, that means you’re okay with the updated policy. If you don’t agree, please stop using the Services and reach out to us.
