FAQsFAQsFAQsWhat is ChainTok about?ChainTok is the world’s first bridge that allows users to etch their most cherished memories onto the Bitcoin network, blending these heartfelt moments with real-world gifts or keepsakes (coming soon). The project aims to create emotional connections that last forever by using the Bitcoin blockchain as humanity’s most secure ledger to make love stories, family bonds, and life’s epic moments digitally eternal. With blockchain-verified records and tangible, custom-made mementos, ChainTok turns memories into something holdable, sharable, and treasurable. Why did you build ChainTok?At ChainTok, the core belief is that love and memories are priceless, and the Bitcoin blockchain is the best way to preserve them forever. The goal is to make celebrating milestones, expressing gratitude, or declaring deep love simple and meaningful. This led to the creation of "Tap-to-Connect" plush gifts that link eternal messages on the Bitcoin network with tangible, touchable gifts in the real world, thereby bringing Bitcoin into more lives and helping everyone experience its unique magic in a deeper way.How exactly are memories "etched" onto the Bitcoin network? We are leveraging the "OP_RETURN" transactions.Given the "OP_RETURN" limit, what kind of memories can be stored?Primarily short text messages or a hash string. Providing off-chain storage for richer media is a future consideration. How does the "Tap-to-Connect" functionality of the physical gifts work?An NTAG424 NFC chip will be embedded into a plush bag-chain, serving as the first physical item.Use the NFC function of your phone to connect by a tap. What happens when someone taps the NFC bag-chain?It is a direct link to a webpage displaying the message with different animation effects depending on the message type, giving it a full sense of ritual. How is the authenticity of the on-chain message verified on the webpage?ChainTok has its own backend infrastructure to retrieve and present the message. Users can then independently verify the message by checking direct links to public Bitcoin explorers (such as mempool.space, blockstream.info) using the transaction hash provided on the webpage. Can you describe the user flow for etching a memory and making a payment? The user submits a message and optionally selects a message type. ChainTok then displays the miner fee and service fee in USD separately. After user confirmation, a QR-code and link for Bitcoin Lightning payment are presented (currently, only Lightning is supported, with future plans for USDT and fiat). Once the payment is confirmed, the OP_RETURN transaction is created and broadcasted to the Bitcoin network.
